Dr. Bernie Hogan is a Research Fellow at the Oxford Internet Institute at the Univ. of Oxford. His present work is primarily focused on the emerging issue of social information overload and effective methodologies for leveraging online interactions and new media in everyday life.

Greg Sterling is the founding principal of Sterling Market Intelligence (SMI), focused on how the Internet and mobile impact offline consumer behavior and marketing. He also is the senior analyst for Opus Research’s Internet2Go program. Before SMI, Sterling ran The Kelsey Group’s Interactive Local Media program.

Jonathan Ewert was most recently SVP of Corporate Development for LookSmart. From 2003 – 2006, he was CEO of ePALS until selling the company. Sokratis Papafloratos is CEO and Co-Founder of TrustedPlaces.com. TrustedPlaces is a social network focused on local reviews, where people share opinions on their favourite places and discover new ones through people’s recommendations. The company is based in London, UK with a development office in Tel Aviv, Israel.

David Ingram is co-founder and CEO of Brownbook.net. David spent around 10 years in traditional business directory firms (Thomson, Scoot, BT) before joining a file sharing startup in 2006 which provided the bridge from traditional publishing to the peer-produced model. He joined a file sharing start-up to head up product strategy and saw that grow from 3 people to a team of over 30 on both sides of the Atlantic, before starting www.brownbook.net with Marc Lyne in 2008.

Michael Weston has racked up more than a dozen years in the online industry, making a leap of faith after spending too long in print (7 years at Associated Newspapers alone). He’s started (and sold) his own agency (Digital Oxygen), held senior roles both at media-owners (Associated New Media; Yahoo!) and technology companies (Silverpop, Engage) and is currently VP International for targeting company/ad exchange wunderloop.

Claudia Poepperl is founder and CEO for adaffix, a Call 3.0 company that enriches the call experience by adding relevant content to calls in real time. Prior to adaffix, Claudia was Chief Marketing Officer for mobile search firm mobilePeople. As Managing Director for UCP Claudia was behind the success of Germany’s largest youth social network ‘uboot.com’.

David Pearce is Head of Mobile Services, Yell.com This ‘year of the mobile internet’ marks the 21st anniversary of David’s career in wireless communications, which commenced in 1988 when he joined the then Racal-Vodafone, with the responsibility for the commercial management of its mobile data products and services.

Paul McCrudden has been active in the local+social space for the last five years, which has included creating a pioneering video website introducing city neighbourhoods. Now a digital strategist at Imagination, his recent #sixweeks project used social media tools to challenge basic assumptions about consumer behaviour and saw a number of companies pay him for being their customer.

James Thornett is currently responsible for overseeing the development of BBC Local, the BBC’s online news and information service across the UK, and location services across BBC Online including mapping and location based technology. He has been working in regional and local broadcasting since 1998, initially as a strategy analyst covering the audience reporting and strategic positioning of regional television and local radio services across England.

Before Sonopia, Jim was CTO at WinWin Technologies, building a CRM and advertising ASP around a real-time profiling engine that hosted over 300 million data points across 35 million consumers and supported over 1 million ad-serving transactions per day.

Felix Petersen, was co-founder of Plazes.com, a bottom-up approach to spatial interaction and location oriented service platform, sometimes also dubbed “Mobile Social Software”. With the acquisition of Plazes by Nokia, he is now Head of Social Activities for Nokia.

Joachim Helfer has been with Müller Medien since 2005 and is co-ordinating all pay-for performance-activities with the company family that contains various businesses from directories, local radio and tv stations books and direct distribution divisions in Germany and other EU markets
